McClure trades in helmet to follow family tradition as NASCAR team owner

McClureABINGDON — Having recently wrapped up 10 years of full-time NASCAR driving, Eric McClure is ready to tear a page from his elders’ playbook and try his hand at NASCAR team ownership.

On Wednesday McClure announced he is teaming with fellow former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Hal Martin, as well as iconic Abingdon race team owners Charlie and Don Henderson, to launch a part-time, two-team effort in the K&N East series in 2016.

The new team is called Martin-McClure Racing (MMR), although McClure slipped up one time during Wednesday’s press conference, calling it Martin-McClure Motorsports.
